Photoacoustic Imaging and Photothermal Therapy of Semiconducting Polymer Nanoparticles: Signal Amplification and Second Near-Infrared Construction

Summary: The development of semiconducting polymer nanoparticles (SPNs) for photoacoustic imaging and photothermal therapy has shown promising results due to their clear structure-property relation and molecular structural tunability. Various strategies such as structure-property screening, fluorescence quenching, accelerated heat dissipation, and size-dependent heat dissipation have been discussed to amplify the PA brightness of SPNs for in vivo PA. Additionally, molecular approaches have been introduced to shift the absorption of SPNs for NIR-II PA imaging and PTT in order to improve tissue penetration depth for diagnosis and therapy.
