Spin Exchanges between Transition Metal Ions Governed by the Ligand p-Orbitals in Their Magnetic Orbitals

Myung-Hwan Whangbo et al.

Summary: This review provides guidelines for finding the spin lattice relevant for any magnetic solid by discussing how spin exchanges in transition metal magnetic compounds are determined quantitatively, how electronic factors control the nature of spin exchanges, and how these factors relate to the geometrical parameters of the spin exchange path. Analyzing the arrangement of ligand p-orbitals in the exchange paths, qualitative rules are proposed for predicting whether the exchanges are antiferromagnetic or ferromagnetic.

A new lead-free 1D hybrid copper perovskite and its structural, thermal, vibrational, optical and magnetic characterization

Mansoura Bourwina et al.

Summary: A hybrid material based on a 1D copper chloride perovskite network with hexahydro-1,4-diazepine was synthesized, showing good thermal stability and semiconductor properties. This compound is the first 1D copper(ii) based perovskite, paving the way for further development of perovskites as alternative lead-free materials for solar cells. Magnetic measurements indicate the absence of magnetic interactions, possibly due to the cancelation of antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic contributions.

Recent progress in tin-based perovskite solar cells

Jiupeng Cao et al.

Summary: Organic-inorganic halide perovskite solar cells have shown high efficiency, but many contain toxic lead. Tin-based perovskites are a promising alternative, with the highest efficiency over 13%. This review discusses device design, physical properties, challenges, film preparation techniques, and chemical substitutions to improve the optoelectronic properties of tin-based perovskites and reduce lead content for high-performance and environmentally friendly PSCs.
