Non-Stereogenic Dinuclear Ir(III) Complex with a Molecular Rack Design to Afford Efficient Thermally Enhanced Red Emission

Marsel Z. Shafikov et al.

Summary: This study reports the design, synthesis and luminescent properties of a dinuclear Ir(III) complex, which showed superior photophysical properties compared to its mononuclear analogues. The complex exhibited highly efficient red emission and a faster radiative rate. Temperature-dependent studies revealed behaviors reminiscent of thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) in both the dinuclear and mononuclear complexes.

Halide-Enhanced Spin-Orbit Coupling and the Phosphorescence Rate in Ir(III) Complexes

Marsel Z. Shafikov et al.

Summary: The phosphorescence rate in Ir(III) complexes can be increased by enhancing the spin-orbit coupling effect through the introduction of metal-coordinated halides, such as in the example of the dinuclear Ir2I2 complex. The exchange of chlorides for iodides significantly contributes to the enhancement of the phosphorescence rate by increasing the contribution of halides to the spin-orbit coupling effect.

The role of dinuclearity in promoting thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) in cyclometallated, N∧C∧N-coordinated platinum(ii) complexes

Piotr Pander et al.

Summary: Through synthesis and analysis, we have discovered a di-Pt(ii) complex that exhibits dual luminescent behavior and activates thermally activated delayed fluorescence. Compared with the mono-Pt(ii) analogue, the di-Pt(ii) complex has a larger singlet radiative rate constant, a smaller singlet-triplet energy gap, and a longer phosphorescence decay lifetime. This bimetallic structure promotes conditions favorable for TADF, showcasing high efficiency in emitting near infrared electroluminescence.

Exceptionally fast radiative decay of a dinuclear platinum complex through thermally activated delayed fluorescence†

Piotr Pander et al.

Summary: The novel dinuclear platinum(ii) complex exhibits bright luminescence in the red region of the spectrum, with a high photoluminescence quantum yield and short excited state lifetime. It also demonstrates efficient thermally activated delayed fluorescence behavior, making it a promising candidate for OLED applications.

Extended ligand conjugation and dinuclearity as a route to efficient platinum-based near-infrared (NIR) triplet emitters and solution-processed NIR-OLEDs

Marsel Z. Shafikov et al.

Summary: Efficient NIR-emitting organic light emitting diodes are rare due to challenges in increasing non-radiative and lower oscillator strengths as the energy of emissive excited states decreases. A dinuclear metal complex with an extended conjugated ligand can mitigate these effects and reduce contamination by visible light, showing improved performance compared to mononuclear complexes.
