Biomimetic estrogen sensor based on soft colloidal probes

David Rettke et al.

Summary: The increasing reports linking emerging estrogenic pollutants to adverse effects highlight the threat they pose to public health and the environment. Detecting these substances remains challenging, but a new biomimetic detection scheme based on estrogen sulfotransferase 1E1 shows exceptional specificity for estrogenic compounds. This approach offers promising options for multiplexed assays and incorporating other proteins of the endocrine system.
