Fluorenyl Indoline as an Efficient Electron Donor for Concerted Companion Dyes: Enhanced Light-Harvesting and Photocurrent

Yingying Chen et al.

Summary: Concerted companion dyes, such as XW61, have shown effectiveness in developing efficient DSSCs. By introducing a stronger electron donor moiety, represented by the fluorenyl indoline unit, into the dye structures, enhanced photocurrent density values were achieved. The complementary absorption characteristics of the porphyrin and organic dye moieties led to panchromatic absorption and superior light-harvesting capabilities, resulting in high photovoltaic performance.

Isomeric Pyrene-Porphyrins for Efficient Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells: An Unexpected Enhancement of the Photovoltaic Performance upon Structural Modification

Chin-Li Wang et al.

Summary: Four pyrene-porphyrins were synthesized to investigate the influence of different isomers on the photovoltaic performance of dye-sensitized solar cells. The 1,8-isomer showed superior efficiency, possibly due to the "umbrella effect". These findings offer insights into isomeric dye design for future applications.

A molecular photosensitizer achieves a Voc of 1.24V enabling highly efficient and stable dye-sensitized solar cells with copper(II/I)-based electrolyte

Dan Zhang et al.

Summary: Developing photosensitizers with high open-circuit voltage (V-oc) is important to improve the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of co-sensitized solar cells. By employing a carefully tailored organic sensitizer MS5 with copper electrolyte, the authors achieved a V-oc of 1.24V and recorded a PCE of 34.5% under ambient light.
