Spin-Induced Black Hole Scalarization in Einstein-Scalar-Gauss-Bonnet Theory

Emanuele Berti et al.

Summary: In a certain class of models, black hole solutions with spin-induced scalarization can be constructed, which may violate the Kerr rotation bound. For the quadratic coupling considered, solutions with spin-induced scalarization are entropically favored over Kerr solutions.

Spin-Induced Scalarized Black Holes

Carlos A. R. Herdeiro et al.

Summary: A recently study shows that a scalar field coupled to the Gauss-Bonnet invariant can experience a spin-induced linear tachyonic instability near a Kerr black hole, only when the dimensionless spin j is greater than or equal to 0.5. Results demonstrate that black hole solutions do have scalar hair once the spin-induced instability threshold is exceeded, supporting the idea of spin-induced black hole scalarization.

Aspects of Gauss-Bonnet Scalarisation of Charged Black Holes

Carlos A. R. Herdeiro et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the scalarisation of general relativity vacuum black holes in models where a scalar field non-minimally couples to the Gauss-Bonnet invariant. Two types of GB(+/-) scalarisation are discussed, with differences between vacuum BHs and electrovacuum BHs explored. Zero modes, fully non-linear solutions, and comparisons with GB(+) scalarisation are presented, with the general features assessed through considerations of stringy dilatonic BHs and coloured BHs.
