Coulomb and Higgs branches from canonical singularities. Part 0

Cyril Closset et al.

Summary: This paper mainly discusses the five-dimensional and four-dimensional superconformal field theories arising from canonical threefold singularities in M-theory and Type IIB string theory. It studies their Coulomb and Higgs branches, and proposes a relation between the resulting moduli spaces through compactification, mirror symmetry, and gauging. By applying this framework, it determines the Higgs branches of some 5d SCFTs and their magnetic quivers. Finally, it also computes the higher-form symmetries of the 4d and 5d SCFTs.

S-fold magnetic quivers

Antoine Bourget et al.

Summary: This paper discusses magnetic quivers and Hasse diagrams for Higgs branches of rank r 4d N = 2 SCFTs arising from Z(l)S-fold constructions. The magnetic quivers are derived using three different methods, leading to the suggestion of a larger set of SCFTs in four dimensions than previously expected by exploring different ungauging schemes on different nodes.

1-form symmetry, isolated N=2 SCFTs, and Calabi-Yau threefolds

Matthew Buican et al.

Summary: In this study, the authors systematically examine 4D N = 2 superconformal field theories constructed via isolated hypersurface singularities in C-4 using type IIB string theory. They show that theories in this class without exactly marginal deformations do not possess 1-form symmetry, which may have origins in gauge groups. Furthermore, it is suggested that general interacting 4D N = 2 SCFTs with Coulomb branch chiral ring generators of dimension less than two also lack 1-form symmetry.

Magnetic quivers from brane webs with O7+-planes

Mohammad Akhond et al.

Summary: We explore the Higgs branch of 5d fixed points engineered using brane webs with an O7(+)-plane, proposing rules to extract magnetic quivers and calculating the Coulomb branch Hilbert series of these quivers. In some cases, alternative magnetic quivers can be obtained using ordinary brane webs or brane webs with an O5-plane, with a matching Hilbert series found.

New aspects of Argyres-Douglas theories and their dimensional reduction

Simone Giacomelli et al.

Summary: The paper explores new aspects of AD theories in A-type class S, including the construction of conformal manifolds, structures of the Higgs branch, and features of three-dimensional gauge theories. It introduces new quiver gauge theories and proposes three-dimensional mirror theories for linear quivers associated with AD theories, providing explicit descriptions of magnetic quivers.

Conformal manifolds and 3d mirrors of Argyres-Douglas theories

Federico Carta et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on two infinite families of Argyres-Douglas theories in 4d, analyzing their conformal manifolds and discussing new properties and SCFTs. It also systematically presents the 3d mirror theories for these theories and discusses the 3d reduction and mirror theories of certain cases with gauging topological symmetries.

Three dimensional mirror symmetry beyond ADE quivers and Argyres-Douglas theories

Anindya Dey

Summary: Mirror symmetry in three-dimensional gauge theories involving ADE quivers has been extensively studied, and this paper presents a systematic field theory prescription for constructing 3d mirror pairs beyond the ADE quiver gauge theories. The construction involves a generalization of S and T operations in the context of SL(2, Z) action on a 3d CFT with a U(1) 0-form global symmetry. Various non-ADE infinite families of mirror pairs can be obtained using this construction. Additionally, 3d N = 4 Lagrangians for 3d SCFTs are conjectured based on this construction.

5d and 4d SCFTs: canonical singularities, trinions and S-dualities

Cyril Closset et al.

Summary: Canonical hypersurface singularities in M-theory and Type IIB string theory lead to 5d and 4d superconformal field theories (SCFTs), respectively. This paper focuses on a specific class of 'trinion' singularities in Type IIB, which give rise to 4d N = 2 SCFTs known as Dpb(G)-trinions. Reducing these 4d and 5d SCFTs to 3d N = 4 theories helps determine their electric and magnetic quivers.

Factorised 3d N=4 orthosymplectic quivers

Mohammad Akhond et al.

Summary: The study focuses on 3D N=4 quiver gauge theories and reveals that their moduli space can factorize into separate sectors, each described by a single quiver gauge theory. It also examines the dual pairs of unitary and orthosymplectic quivers and conjectures the exact highest weight generating functions for the Coulomb branch Hilbert series of orthosymplectic quivers, which are verified through direct computations.
