Upper bound solution for the bearing capacity of two adjacent footings on rock masses

Saeed Shamloo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of the adjacency of two strip footings on the bearing capacity of rock masses using upper bound analysis and finite element method. The research shows that the distance between the footings plays a significant role in how they interact with each other and affect the ultimate bearing capacity of the rock masses. By varying parameters, the maximum distance of mutual influence between the two footings and the impact of reducing the distance between footings on the bearing capacity can be determined.
