Ppd-H1 integrates drought stress signals to control spike development and flowering time in barley

Leonard Gol et al.

Summary: The photoperiod response gene Ppd-H1 interacts with drought stress signals to modulate spike development in barley. Wild-type Ppd-H1 allele can mitigate the negative effects of drought on barley growth and spike development. The genetic differences in developmental response to drought are correlated with the differential down-regulation of flowering promotors in barley.
