Summary: This work aims to understand biphasic reaction systems by simultaneously purifying and producing carbohydrates during biomass pretreatment. The optimized conditions in a biphasic reaction system resulted in the production of hemicellulose-derived monosaccharides with minimal degradation products, showing potential for environmentally friendly purification of carbohydrates and generation of multiple added-value products in a single step.
