Association studies and QTL mapping for soybean oil content and composition

Luiz Claudio Costa Silva et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify QTLs controlling oil and fatty acid contents in soybean seed in different locations. By analyzing molecular characterization of the population, linkage mapping and SNP markers, a total of 20 QTLs controlling oil and fatty acid contents were identified, including some potentially new QTL associated with fatty acid composition. These results could aid in understanding the genetic basis of these traits and assist breeders in modifying oil content and composition in soybean seed, especially in tropical conditions.

FT5a interferes with the Dt1-AP1 feedback loop to control flowering time and shoot determinacy in soybean

Lin Yue et al.

Summary: The study reveals that Dt1 and FT5a play crucial roles in controlling the stem growth habit and flowering time in soybean, determining the fate of the shoot apical meristem through the formation of a suppressive regulatory feedback loop. These findings provide novel insights into the adaptability and grain yield of soybean cultivation.

Mapping QTL controlling soybean seed sucrose and oligosaccharides in a single family of soybean nested association mapping (SoyNAM) population

Mohammad Wali Salari et al.

Summary: This study investigated the genetic control of sucrose, raffinose, and stachyose in soybeans, identifying several quantitative trait loci (QTLs) on chromosomes 1, 3, and 6. These QTLs explain variance in the levels of these carbohydrates, with potential candidate genes involved in seed development and plant growth.

High Phosphorus Acquisition and Allocation Strategy Is Associated with Soybean Seed Yield under Water- and P-Limited Conditions

Yun-Yin Feng et al.

Summary: Adequate water supply can improve phosphorus mobilization from leaves and stems, leading to higher seed yield, while soybean genotypes with high phosphorus acquisition efficiency are better suited for high yield under water- and phosphorus-limited conditions.

Identification of QTNs and their candidate genes for flowering time and plant height in soybean using multi-locus genome-wide association studies

Xu Han et al.

Summary: This study identified stable quantitative trait nucleotides associated with flowering time and plant height in soybean, and predicted candidate genes for these traits using multi-locus genome-wide association study methods. The validated QTNs were used to design optimal cross-combinations for improving soybean varieties.
