Capture and visualization of live Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacilli from tuberculosis patient bioaerosols

Ryan Dinkele et al.

Summary: Researchers have developed a technology to efficiently capture and isolate live Mycobacterium tuberculosis, discovering that TB patients may release a much higher number of bacteria daily than previously estimated. By compartmentalizing bacilli within nanowells, they demonstrated the ability to maintain bacillary viability for extended periods and perform serial imaging.
