Is the ZIKV Congenital Syndrome and Microcephaly Due to Syndemism with Latent Virus Coinfection?

Solene Grayo

Summary: The evolutionary nature of the Zika virus allows for increased complexity and diversity, potentially leading to coinfections. These coinfections may have both positive and negative effects on viral replication, host response, and pathogenicity. Revisiting what is known regarding the pathogenesis and epidemiology of ZIKV diseases is necessary.

Co-Isolation of Cytokines and Exosomes: Implications for Immunomodulation Studies

Shawna Benjamin-Davalos et al.

Summary: Exosomes play a vital role in intercellular communication and their immunomodulatory potential is a focus in cancer research. However, technical challenges arise during exosome isolation and the co-elution of exosomes with soluble factors makes it difficult to ascertain their specific contribution to immunosuppression in the tumor microenvironment.
