Transparency, auditability, and explainability of machine learning models in credit scoring

Michael Buecker et al.

Summary: Credit scoring models require accurate risk prediction and transparency, but the superior predictive power of modern machine learning algorithms is not fully utilized. This article presents a framework for making black box machine learning models transparent, auditable, and explainable, and shows how these techniques can be applied in credit scoring to achieve comparable interpretability while maintaining predictive power.

Meta-analysis investigating the relationship between clinical features, outcomes, and severity of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pneumonia

Jia Li et al.

Summary: Research findings showed that severe (ICU) COVID-19 cases were more likely to have a smoking history, along with comorbidities such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, hypertension, coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular diseases, and malignancy. There were significant differences between severe and nonsevere cases in terms of clinical symptoms, laboratory test results, and treatments. Patients in the severe group had higher complication rates, mortality rates, and lower discharge rates compared to nonsevere cases.

Predictive monitoring and therapeutic immune biomarkers in the management of clinical complications of COVID-19

Hamed Fouladseresht et al.

Summary: COVID-19, caused by SARS-CoV-2, presents a wide range of clinical symptoms from mild to severe, with inflammatory mechanisms playing a crucial role in its immunopathology. Cellular and molecular mediators of the immune system may serve as potential targets for predicting, monitoring, and treating complications of COVID-19. This review assesses the latest data on the immunopathology of COVID-19, focusing on pathological evidence, dysregulations of pro- and anti-inflammatory mediators, and impairments of immune system functions.

Can we predict the severe course of COVID-19-a systematic review and meta-analysis of indicators of clinical outcome?

Stephan Katzenschlager et al.

Summary: This comprehensive meta-analysis identified age, cerebrovascular disease, CRP, LDH, and cTnI as important risk factors for predicting severe outcomes of COVID-19, which will inform clinical scores and support early decision-making.
