Tailorable negative permittivity of graphene-carbon nanotube/copper calcium titanate metacomposites

Rongwei Ma et al.

Summary: Ceramic metacomposites with varying content of graphene-carbon nanotube fillers were fabricated to achieve negative permittivity. The research found two types of negative permittivity in the composites, induced by dielectric resonance and plasma oscillation, providing valuable insights for tailorable negative permittivity. The dispersion of negative permittivity in the metacomposites was attributed to the plasmonic state of extensive free carriers in percolating graphene-carbon nanotube networks.

Epsilon-Negative Carbon Aerogels with State Transition from Dielectric to Degenerate Semiconductor

Peitao Xie et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the ability to achieve negative permittivity in carbon aerogels, with the value continuously adjustable by changing the composition while keeping the microstructure unchanged. Additionally, a physical state transition is observed with increasing carbonization temperature, transitioning from a low-loss dielectric state to a high-loss dielectric state, and finally to a degenerate semiconductor state.

Negative-k and positive-k layers introduced into graphene/polyvinylidene fluoride composites to achieve high-k and low loss

Zongxiang Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, single layer structured graphene/polyvinylidene fluoride (GR/PVDF) composites were synthesized by hot pressing process, showing a transition in permittivity from positive to negative and achieving high-k and low tan delta performances. Multilayer structured GR/PVDF composites with a negative-k layer were able to achieve high-k and low loss, providing a novel strategy for preparing dielectric materials.

Communication-Tunable Negative Permittivity of Ti3SiC2 MAX Phase Granular Metacomposites

Min Chen et al.

Summary: The negative permittivity property of Ti3SiC2/copper calcium titanate metacomposites is dependent on the low-frequency collective plasma oscillation of free electrons in the conductive Ti3SiC2 networks. The transition from hopping conduction to metallic conduction behavior is related to the percolative evolution from isolated Ti3SiC2 fillers to interconnected networks. The dielectric permittivity value can be tuned by varying Ti3SiC2 content, and the inductive character is inherent in epsilon-negative materials.

Weakly negative permittivity of MWCNT/TiN/CCTO ternary ceramics sintered in argon and nitrogen atmosphere

Kai Sun et al.

Summary: In this study, ternary multiwalled carbon nanotubes/titanium nitride/copper calcium titanate composites were prepared using a facile sintering method in an inert atmosphere to achieve weakly negative permittivity. The negative permittivity was observed due to the synergy between TiN and MWCNT, exhibiting Lorentz-like behavior at low frequencies and Drude-like behavior at high frequencies. Investigation revealed a close relationship between permittivity and reactance, with the sintering atmosphere also impacting the negative permittivity behavior.

Communication-A Weakly Negative Permittivity of Carbonyl Iron and La-Doped Barium Ferrite Composites at Radio Frequency

Min Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigates the percolative composites with negative permittivity, focusing on the change in conduction mechanism and the occurrence of weakly negative permittivity as the carbonyl iron content increases. It is found that inductance characteristic plays a role in the negative permittivity observed in the composites. These findings offer a potential way to design metal composites with weakly negative permittivity for various applications.
