Dependence of Solar Wind Proton Temperature on the Polarization Properties of Alfvenic Fluctuations at Ion-kinetic Scales

L. D. Woodham et al.

Summary: This study investigates the polarization properties of Alfvenic fluctuations at ion-kinetic scales in the solar wind using almost 15 years of Wind observations. The helicity of the fluctuations is found to be consistent with predictions from linear Vlasov theory. Proton temperature is also found to have a correlation with the angle between the proton flow and local mean magnetic field, indicating the importance of local kinetic processes in determining proton temperature in the solar wind.

A Novel Method for Estimating the Intrinsic Magnetic Field Spectrum of Kinetic-Range Turbulence

Alexander Pitna et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on the accurate estimation of the power spectral density (PSD) slope for finitely sampled data in the time-frequency domain, defined by the local slope in the framework of Continuous Wavelet Transform. Empirical formula was derived to assess the statistical error of the local slope estimation using Monte Carlo simulations, and theoretical results were validated by analyzing measured data.

Flattening of the Density Spectrum in Compressible Hall-MHD Simulations

Victor Montagud-Camps et al.

Summary: Observations and numerical simulations reveal a decade-long transition region in the solar wind, characterized by a flattening of the density spectrum slope, with Hall physics being essential for its generation. The analysis of power spectrum in the simulations suggests that the flattening of density spectrum is associated with fluctuations below the ion cyclotron frequency.

Least-squares Wavelet and Cross-wavelet Analyses of VLBI Baseline Length and Temperature Time Series: Fortaleza-Hartebeesthoek-Westford-Wettzell

Ebrahim Ghaderpour

Summary: The study conducted extensive least-squares wavelet and cross-wavelet analyses on VLBI baseline length and temperature time series, revealing different impacts of annual temperature variation on antennas in different continents. The time series of Westford and Wettzell are most influenced by annual temperature changes, while Fortaleza and Hartebeesthoek are least affected.
