Fine-Resolution WRF Simulation of Stably Stratified Flows in Shallow Pre-Alpine Valleys: A Case Study of the KASCADE-2017 Campaign

Michiel de Bode et al.

Summary: This study aimed at developing and validating a numerical model to diagnose local flows in complex terrain. The model accurately reproduced wind flows and diurnal cycles, but underestimated diurnal temperature range and intensity of the cold pool at night, leading to discrepancies in slope drainage flows and scalar field heterogeneity compared to observations.
