Changes of Extreme Agro-Climatic Droughts and Their Impacts on Grain Yields in Rain-Fed Agricultural Regions in China over the Past 50 Years

Summary: In this study, a threshold determination model of extreme agro-climatic droughts (EADs) was built to analyze the frequencies, intensities, and impacts of EADs on grain yields in China over the past 50 years. The results showed that the threshold value of EADs gradually increased from southeast to northwest in China, and that the frequencies and intensities of EADs increased mostly in the east region. The study also found a negative correlation between grain yields and EAD frequency and intensity.
