Molecular Engineering through Control of Structural Deformation for Highly Efficient Ultralong Organic Phosphorescence

Zheng Yin et al.

Summary: Developing highly efficient organic room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) materials with long lifetimes is challenging. By introducing a methylene linker between carbazole and halogenated phenyl ring, phosphors CzBX (X=Cl, Br) show significantly higher phosphorescence efficiency than compounds with a C-N bond linker. This research opens the door for potential applications of these materials in anti-counterfeiting or data encryption.

Tailoring Noncovalent Interactions to Activate Persistent Room-Temperature Phosphorescence from Doped Polyacrylonitrile Films

Hongzhuo Wu et al.

Summary: This study presents a rational strategy to activate wide-color ranged and persistent room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) from amorphous films by embedding electron-rich organic phosphors into an electron-deficient matrix polyacrylonitrile (PAN). The ultralong lifetime of 968.1 ms was obtained for the doped film TBB-6OMe@PAN through tailoring noncovalent interactions between the electron-deficient PAN matrix and electron-rich organic phosphors, indicating the activation of persistent RTP may be triggered by strong electrostatic interactions between the two components. Further theoretical calculations demonstrated that both electrostatic and dispersion interactions are responsible for the activation of persistent RTP in the doped films, with the doped film also showing excellent water resistance after 12 weeks.

Light-Harvesting Supramolecular Phosphors: Highly Efficient Room Temperature Phosphorescence in Solution and Hydrogels

Swadhin Garain et al.

Summary: A high quantum yield solution state RTP has been achieved in water by employing an organic-inorganic supramolecular scaffolding strategy. Furthermore, the supramolecular hybrid phosphors have been used as a light-harvesting scaffold to achieve delayed fluorescence from acceptor dyes via efficient triplet to singlet Forster resonance energy transfer.

Boosting the humidity resistance of nonconventional luminogens with room temperature phosphorescence via enhancing the strength of hydrogen bonds

Yide Meng et al.

Summary: Organic room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) has garnered significant attention for its potential applications, and hydrogen bond engineering has proven to be an effective strategy in constructing luminescent materials. However, research on moisture-resistant properties lags behind, even though it plays a crucial role in preventing humidity-induced quenching of RTP emission.
