Ladder-like energy-relaying exciplex enables 100% internal quantum efficiency of white TADF-based diodes in a single emissive layer

Chunmiao Han et al.

Summary: Efficient white organic light-emitting diodes (WOLEDs) based on purely thermally activated delayed fluorescence with a single-emissive-layer configuration have been achieved through the rational design of an energy-relaying exciplex, showcasing high internal and external quantum efficiency. Introduction of a phosphine oxide-based acceptor with a steric group to the exciplex allows for efficient triplet energy transfer, demonstrating the feasibility of energy relaying in multicomponent systems for exciton harvesting in next-generation WOLED light sources.
