Violet phosphorus surface chemical degradation in comparison to black phosphorus

Alireza Fali et al.

Summary: Bulk growth methods have allowed the synthesis of various allotropes of phosphorus, with violet phosphorus showing more stability and slower degradation compared to black phosphorus. Understanding the stability of violet phosphorus could lead to further research on its monolayer form for potential future applications.

Liquid-phase exfoliation of violet phosphorus for electronic applications

Shenghuang Lin et al.

Summary: Large-scale production of solution-processable violet phosphorus flakes, stably dispersed in several solvents, reveals thickness-dependent visible photoluminescence characteristics, covering the shortcomings of black phosphorus. The VP-based field-effect transistor exhibits relatively competitive electrical properties compared to other liquid-phase exfoliated 2D materials. This study opens up possibilities for a wide range of applications in optical devices, energy storage, catalysis, and sodium batteries based on large-scale VP flakes.

Phonon Properties of Bulk Violet Phosphorus Single Crystals: Temperature and Pressure Evolution

Lihui Zhang et al.

Summary: The successful synthesis of stable violet phosphorus single crystals allowed for the study of its phonon properties and vibrational modes through Raman spectroscopy. It was found that violet phosphorus transforms into black phosphorus and a simple cubic phase under high pressures. The first-order temperature coefficients of violet phosphorus are significantly larger than those of other layered structures.
