Molecular Engineering through Control of Structural Deformation for Highly Efficient Ultralong Organic Phosphorescence

Zheng Yin et al.

Summary: Developing highly efficient organic room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) materials with long lifetimes is challenging. By introducing a methylene linker between carbazole and halogenated phenyl ring, phosphors CzBX (X=Cl, Br) show significantly higher phosphorescence efficiency than compounds with a C-N bond linker. This research opens the door for potential applications of these materials in anti-counterfeiting or data encryption.

Managing Locally Excited and Charge-Transfer Triplet States to Facilitate Up-Conversion in Red TADF Emitters That Are Available for Both Vacuum- and Solution-Processes

Jia-Xiong Chen et al.

Summary: Developing red thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters for high-performance OLEDs is a challenge, but the newly designed and synthesized red TADF emitters in this study show promising results with significant efficiency enhancements. Among them, oDTBPZ-DPXZ demonstrates efficient TADF feature and high exciton utilization, achieving excellent external quantum efficiency in both vacuum-processed and solution-processed OLEDs. This work provides an effective strategy for designing red TADF molecules by managing energy level alignments to enhance exciton harvesting.

σ-Conjugation and H-Bond-Directed Supramolecular Self-Assembly: Key Features for Efficient Long-Lived Room Temperature Phosphorescent Organic Molecular Crystals

Catherine Demangeat et al.

Summary: Long-lived room temperature phosphorescence from organic molecular crystals is achieved by designing two isomeric molecular phosphors, highlighting the critical role of the two degrees of freedom of the sigma-conjugated bridge on the chromophore optical properties. The crystal structures of the efficient phosphorescent materials demonstrate an unprecedented well-organization of the emitters into a 2D rectangular columnar-like supramolecular structure stabilized by intermolecular H-bonding.

Room-Temperature Phosphorescence Enabled through Nacre-Mimetic Nanocomposite Design

Xuyang Yao et al.

Summary: A novel waterborne strategy is introduced to fabricate low-cost nanocomposite films with room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP), allowing programmable retention times of RTP signals by adjusting the polymer/nanoclay ratio for information storage and anti-counterfeiting materials. The combination of bioinspired nanocomposite design with RTP materials overcomes limitations in organic RTP compound molecular design and adds programmable temporal features to RTP materials, paving the way for practical applications as novel anti-counterfeiting materials.
