A series of coated fabrics based on Fe-doped BaSnO3 powder pigments were prepared, showing high near-infrared solar reflectance. The BaSn(0.80)Fe(0.20)O(3-delta)-coated fabric exhibited excellent thermal insulation performance with a NIR solar reflectance of 64.30%, showcasing great washing durability and chemical stability.
In this paper, a series of coated fabrics based on Fe-doped BaSnO3 (BaSn1-xFexO3-delta, x = 0.00, 0.05, 0.10, 0.20, 0.25) powder pigments were prepared. The results indicate that the developed pigments are substitutional solid solutions with no impurity and the valencies of iron confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) are +2 and +3. The BaSn1-xFexO3-delta pigments possess high near-infrared (NIR) solar reflectance (64.92-79.81%), and the change in the near-infrared reflectance value can be explained by the free carrier concentration and electron trap theory. The pigments exhibit the alteration of yellow-green to brown, which is ascribed to the charge-transfer transition (Sn 5s + 5p <-> Fe 3d). The BaSn1-xFexO3-delta-coated fabrics exhibit excellent high NIR solar reflectance and thermal insulating performance. The NIR solar reflectance of the BaSn(0.80)Fe(0.20)O(3-delta)(-)coated fabric is up to 64.30%. Compared with those of brown uncoated fabric and conventional brown (Pigment Yellow 42) coated fabric, the inner surface temperature of the BaSn(0.80)Fe(0.20)O(3-delta)(-)coated fabric is lowered by 7.6 and 4.2 degrees C, while the heat absorption is reduced by 51.0 and 37.9%, respectively. The coated fabric shows excellent washing durability and chemical stability. In summary, these coated fabrics have the potential to serve as thermal insulation coated fabrics.
