Fluid flow and fault-related subsurface fractures in slate and metasandstone formations: A case study of the Jentse Geothermal Area, Taiwan

Bing-Chen Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigated the subsurface fracture structures and fluid flow pathways in the Jentse geothermal area in Taiwan using open-hole and Fullbore Formation MicroImager (FMI) logs. The study identified a major permeable fault system composed of three permeable fault zones, characterized by porous fault breccia and a large number of open-fracture planes. Deflections in interpreted permeable fractures zones based on petrophysical and borehole image logs were observed, indicating the influence of subsurface structures on geothermal conduits.

A Basin-Scale Groundwater Flow Model of the Columbia Plateau Regional Aquifer System in the Palouse (USA): Insights for Aquifer Vulnerability Assessment

Giacomo Medici et al.

Summary: This research proposes an approach to assess vulnerability in bedrock aquifers by combining stable isotope values and particle tracking in three dimensions. The study reveals that deeper aquifer zones have longer particle travel times and distinctive isotopic fingerprints.
