Poly(hydroxamic acid) ligand from palm-based waste materials for removal of heavy metals from electroplating wastewater

Md Lutfor Rahman et al.

Summary: The research synthesized a poly(methyl acrylate) grafted palm cellulose and yielded poly(hydroxamic acid) ligands through an oximation reaction. The adsorption capacity of the synthesized ligand for metal ions such as copper, iron, and lead were determined, following a pseudo-first-order kinetic model pathway. The results correlated well with the Freundlich isotherm model, showing that multiple layer adsorption occurs on the ligand.

Preparation and optimization of a low-cost adsorbent for heavy metal ions from red mud using fraction factorial design and Box-Behnken response methodology

Hongcheng Mi et al.

Summary: The utilization of red mud (RM) to prepare an adsorbent for heavy metal ions has attracted attention. By activating RM with Ca2+ and Mg2+ mixed solution neutralization and high-temperature treatment, a low-cost adsorbent was successfully prepared. The adsorbent displayed high adsorption capacity for Pb(II) and Zn(II) in liquid, making it a promising material for removing heavy metal ions from contaminated water.

Preparation of a novel Poly-chloromethyl styrene chelating resin containing heterofluorenone pendant groups for the removal of Cu (II), Pb (II), and Ni (II) from wastewaters

Binze Zou et al.

Summary: The CPS-DI chelating resin synthesized using poly-chloromethyl styrene has high affinity for Cu (II), Pb (II), and Ni (II) ions, with excellent reusability. Thermodynamic parameters indicate a higher temperature is beneficial to the adsorption process. This resin effectively treats and recovers heavy metal ions, solving the problem of advanced treatment of wastewater containing heavy metal ions.
