Study on the biogas potential of anaerobic digestion of coffee husks wastes in Ethiopia

Ning Du et al.

Summary: This study found that coffee husks have the potential to produce biomass through anaerobic digestion, with maximum biogas and methane production reaching 3359.6 ml and 2127.30 ml, respectively. The addition of trace elements, particularly Fe(2+), significantly enhanced biogas and methane production by promoting hydrolysis, acidification, and enzymatic activity in methanogens.

Flexible copper-biopolymer nanocomposite sensors for trace level lead detection in water

Pawan Pathak et al.

Summary: A novel copper-chitosan nanocomposite-based flexible electrochemical sensor with integrated Ag/AgCl reference electrode was developed. The sensor showed enhanced sensitivity and mechanical flexibility, with a detection limit of 0.72 ppb for lead ions in tap water. The XPS analysis confirmed the formation of functional layers on the working and reference electrodes.

Polymer-Based Devices and Remediation Strategies for Emerging Contaminants in Water

Saeideh Alipoori et al.

Summary: Adsorption is an important and versatile technique for water purification, with polymer-based materials commonly used as adsorbents to remove toxic elements from polluted waters. The evaluation of adsorbent performance is based on factors such as adsorption capacity, adsorption rate, contaminant selectivity, and adsorbent reusability, which are affected by pH, temperature, contact time, and the type, dosage, and morphology of the adsorbent.
