In this study, a hybrid composite was prepared using the double stir casting method. The density, hardness, and wear behavior of the fabricated composite were measured. Characterization testing revealed the performance of the composite material.
In the present investigation, a hybrid composite is prepared through the double stir casting method. The composition of the fabricated hybrid composite is Al8090-2SiC-xwt.% B4C (x = 0, 2, 4, 6). As perArchimede's principle, density is measured, and hardness is measured in Vickers hardness tester on the fabricated composites. Characterization testing like x-ray diffraction (XRD), optical microscopy (OM) and scanning electron microscopy equipped with SEM-EDX were carried out on the samples. The wear behavior of the hybrid composite is measured using a pin-on-disc apparatus. The wear mechanism on the wear surface and debris were interpreted with the aid of an SEM micrograph.
