Prevalence and Antimicrobial Susceptibility Profiles of Microorganisms Associated with Lower Reproductive Tract Infections in Women from Southern Poland-Retrospective Laboratory-Based Study

Jadwiga Wojkowska-Mach et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the etiological factors of vaginal dysbacteriosis, and the antimicrobial susceptibility of dominant bacterial and fungal infections in outpatient women of different age groups in the Silesian Region. Gram-positive cocci were most frequently isolated, with the prevalence of vulvovaginal candidiasis being highest. Drug resistance was only observed in Streptococcus agalactiae.

Aerobic Vaginitis Induced by Escherichia coli Infection During Pregnancy Can Result in Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes Through the IL-4/JAK-1/STAT-6 Pathway

Chong Fan et al.

Summary: A study found that early embryonic infection with Escherichia coli during pregnancy may lead to decreased maternal and fetal weight, as well as increased placental weight. In addition, the infection also affects the expression of a series of immune-related genes, causing a change in polarization of macrophage types.
