The synthesized AgNPs showed strong antimicrobial activity against Klebsiella pneumoniae and Salmonella Enteritidis, with MICs of 12.5 and 25.0 μg/mL, respectively. The FE-SEM analysis revealed morphological changes in treated cells, leading to cell death.

Biogenic synthesis of silver nanoparticles using Paenibacillus sp. in-vitro and their antibacterial, anticancer activity assessment against human colon tumour cell line

Summary: The green synthesized AgNPs exhibited significant antibacterial activity and dose-dependent anticancer activity against Human Colon Tumour-116 cancer cells, with IC50 value of 81.45 µg ml(-1). The AgNPs ruptured and damaged bacterial cell membranes, while releasing silver ions to disrupt DNA replication in bacteria. Additionally, AgNPs induced intracellular reactive oxygen species in tumour cells, leading to damage and reduction in cancer cell viability.

Summary: Lake Mariout in Egypt is a polluted coastal marine ecosystem where indigenous microbial populations have developed advantageous traits to deal with effluents. In this study, two Streptomyces strains from the lake's sediment were found to have antagonistic activity through the production of bioactive metabolites and the bioreduction of AgNO3. The AgNPs synthesized by these strains showed potent bactericidal and fungicidal activity, especially when combined with their bioactive metabolites, demonstrating a synergistic efficiency against various pathogens.
