Photodegradation of polybenzimidazole/polyvinyl chloride composites and polybenzimidazole: Density functional theory and experimental study

Dandan Jin et al.

Summary: The study investigated the photodegradation of PVC composites through a combination of density functional theory (DFT) and experimental approaches. It was found that the incorporation of PBI and polyacrylic acid modified carbon black can enhance the resistance of PVC composites to photodegradation.

Synthesis of Carvedilol-Organotin Complexes and Their Effects on Reducing Photodegradation of Poly(Vinyl Chloride)

Omar G. Mousa et al.

Summary: The photostability of PVC can be enhanced by adding synthesized tin complexes, which inhibit photodegradation induced by UV irradiation; organotin with a high content of aromatics is particularly efficient in this process. Carvedilol tin complexes not only absorb UV light, but also scavenge radicals, hydrochloride, and peroxides, stabilizing PVC in the presence of UV irradiation.

Photostabilization of Poly(vinyl chloride) Films Blended with Organotin Complexes of Mefenamic Acid for Outdoor Applications

Ahmed Ahmed et al.

Summary: This study focuses on enhancing the photostabilization of PVC films blended with mefenamate-tin complexes. Different tin complexes were synthesized and tested for their effects on PVC films under long-term irradiation. The results showed varying levels of photodegradation and surface changes in the PVC films with the addition of different tin complexes.

Layered double hydroxides as thermal stabilizers for Poly(vinyl chloride): A review

Yixuan Guo et al.

Summary: LDHs are efficient and environmentally friendly PVC thermal stabilizers, potentially replacing traditional toxic stabilizers like lead salts. Their thermal stabilization mechanism, chemical composition of metal layers and interlayer guests, and dispersion state in PVC composites play crucial roles in enhancing PVC thermal stability.

Tin-Naphthalene Sulfonic Acid Complexes as Photostabilizers for Poly(vinyl chloride)

Hadeer Jasem et al.

Summary: New organotin complexes were synthesized and evaluated as photostabilizers for poly(vinyl chloride), showing a reduction in photodegradation of polymeric films when irradiated with ultraviolet light. These complexes were found to inhibit the main cause of poly(vinyl chloride) photodegradation and acted as efficient primary and secondary photostabilizers.
