New hybrid basalt/E-glass FRP jacketing for enhanced confinement of recycled aggregate concrete with clay brick aggregate

Krisada Chaiyasarn et al.

Summary: Recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) with clay brick aggregate (CBA) has the potential to be widely used due to the abundance of clay brick waste. The use of hybrid fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites, such as BE-FRP, can effectively enhance the strength, stiffness, and ductility of RAC with CBA, showing promising results in increasing confinement levels.

Numerical parametric investigation on the moment redistribution of basalt FRC continuous beams with basalt FRP bars

Abdelrahman Abushanab et al.

Summary: The study investigated the influence of key factors on moment redistribution in basalt FRC continuous beams using finite element models and regression analysis. It was concluded that a sagging-to-hogging reinforcement ratio of at least 1.6 ensures uniform moment redistribution.

Experimental and nonlinear finite element analysis of shear behaviour of reinforced concrete beams

Touhami Tahenni et al.

Summary: This paper presents an experimental investigation and nonlinear finite element analysis of the shear and diagonal cracking effect on the behavior of reinforced-concrete beams, with and without transverse reinforcement. The results show that transverse reinforcement efficiently controls diagonal crack width, increases shear capacity, shifts failure mode, and improves ductility, especially with high-strength concrete. The 3D finite element analysis provides accurate predictions for the shear response of RC beams.

Experimental and finite element studies on the behavior of hybrid reinforced concrete beams

Luma Fadhil Hussein et al.

Summary: The use of hybrid concrete significantly enhances the overall behavior of reinforced beams under two point loads. Beams affected by shear reinforcement and SCC layer thickness exhibit higher failure loads. Numerical simulation results are in good agreement with experimental data.

Bending behaviour of precast concrete slab with externally flanged hollow FRP tubes

Usama Al-Fakher et al.

Summary: This study investigated the bending behavior of composite precast concrete slabs reinforced with steel and CRS, showing that CRS can stabilize the hollow core and act as additional reinforcement, enhancing the load bearing capacity by 112% and the initial stiffness of the slabs by 24%.

Remediation of Punching Shear Failure Using Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) Rods

Ekkachai Yooprasertchai et al.

Summary: The experimental program demonstrated the effectiveness of using GFRP rods for shear-strengthening of flat slabs, showing increased peak loads and deformation capacity while avoiding brittle failure. The RD pattern resulted in the highest peak load increase, while the SG pattern resulted in the lowest increase.

Low-Cost Fiber Rope Reinforced Polymer (FRRP) Confinement of Square Columns with Different Corner Radii

Qudeer Hussain et al.

Summary: This research focused on exploring the axial stress-strain relationships of FRRP-confined square columns and evaluating predictive models for their ultimate strength and strain. Existing models were found to be inaccurate, highlighting the need for improved predictive models. Newly developed unified models were accurate in predicting the ultimate strength and strain of FRRP-confined columns.
