Analysis of driving forces on wetland ecosystem services value change: A case in Northeast China

Fei Song et al.

Summary: The study showed that in the wetlands of Northeast China, the value of provisioning services and cultural services increased significantly, while the value of regulating services and supporting services decreased. The overall ESV of wetlands increased by 7.31 x 10(22) sej, with a growth rate of 127.73%. The most significant factors driving ESV changes were the wetland supporting factor, per capita GDP factor, and protection investment factor.

Coupling Analysis of Ecosystem Services Value and Economic Development in the Yangtze River Economic Belt: A Case Study in Hunan Province, China

Wanxu Chen et al.

Summary: Healthy ecosystems are crucial for the sustainable survival and development of human society, but ecological deterioration caused by socioeconomic activities can put pressure on ecosystems. This study focused on spatial interaction between ecosystem services value (ESV) and economic development in Hunan Province from 2000 to 2018. The analysis revealed trends in ESV and its relationship with economic development, providing insights for coordinated regional economic development and ecosystem conservation.

Quantification of basin-scale multiple ecosystem services in ecologically fragile areas

Songtang He et al.

Summary: By applying risk zoning and introducing the regional difference coefficient, this study evaluated the ecosystem services of a debris flow alluvial fan in Awang basin, Yunnan, China from 2012 to 2018. The results showed that the water area ecosystem service value was high, but easily triggered to transform adjacent land types under human or natural influences. During the studied period, the ecosystem services exhibited a decreasing trend, mainly due to the decrease in water area and increase in construction land area.

Determining and forecasting drought susceptibility in southwestern Iran using multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) coupled with CA-Markov model

Marzieh Mokarram et al.

Summary: Forecasting drought using various parameters and spatial models is crucial for decision-makers, especially in arid regions like the south of Fars province in Iran. This study utilized fuzzy and AHP methods to identify drought-prone areas and selected key predictive parameters to map drought. The predictions indicate an intensification of drought in the east and south of the study area by 2030 and 2040.

Identifying the potential areas of afforestation projects using cost-benefit analysis based on ecosystem services and farmland suitability: A case study of the Grain for Green Project in Jinan, China

Kai Li et al.

Summary: This study developed a methodology using cost-benefit analysis to identify potential areas for afforestation, using the Grain for Green Project in China as a case study. Results showed spatial heterogeneity in ecosystem service increases and farmland suitability indicators, with CBA outperforming the slope degree method in identifying areas with higher benefits at lower costs. The decision-making framework proposed in this study can contribute to delicate afforestation management, particularly in resource-limited situations.
