PartSeg: a tool for quantitative feature extraction from 3D microscopy images for dummies

Grzegorz Bokota et al.

Summary: Bioimaging techniques are essential for studying molecular pathways and morphological phenotypes of cell populations. High-resolution 3D microscopy provides high-quality images that require automated, unbiased, and simple analysis. Segmentation of cell nucleus structures is complex, with a steep learning curve for new users and a need for programming skills.

The interplay of seizures-induced axonal sprouting and transcription-dependent Bdnf repositioning in the model of temporal lobe epilepsy

Anna Skupien-Jaroszek et al.

Summary: In this study, the researchers investigated the role of the BDNF gene in epilepsy using a neuronal activation model and observed a correlation between the repositioning of Bdnf alleles in the nucleus and gene transcriptional activity. The decrease in the percentage of Bdnf alleles at the nuclear periphery was associated with abnormal excitatory circuits formation. These findings provide new insights into the mechanisms of BDNF in epileptogenesis and suggest the potential of BDNF as a target for novel antiepileptic therapies.
