Multi-targeted 1H/19F MRI unmasks specific danger patterns for emerging cardiovascular disorders

Ulrich Floegel et al.

Summary: The study introduces a multi-color, multi-targeted non-invasive imaging technology for predicting silent danger patterns prior to myocardial infarction in mice. By using a nanoemulsion platform technology, evolving danger patterns of coronary inflammation and atherothrombosis can be visualized simultaneously.

Activatable 19F MRI Nanoprobes for Visualization of Biological Targets in Living Subjects

Hongyu Lin et al.

Summary: F-19 MRI serves as an exceptional complement to H-1 MRI, offering high sensitivity, low biological background, and a wide range of chemical shifts. When combined with activatable nanoprobes, the specificity and sensitivity of F-19 MRI can be further enhanced, allowing for in vivo detection and imaging at cellular or even molecular level in deep tissues.

Single Fluorinated Agent for Multiplexed 19F-MRI with Micromolar Detectability Based on Dynamic Exchange

Ronit Shusterman-Krush et al.

Summary: By applying the principles of CEST-MRI to F-19-MRI, researchers achieved a 900-fold signal amplification for a biocompatible fluorinated agent and demonstrated the potential for using an inhalable fluorinated anesthetic as a single F-19 probe to detect two targets simultaneously in host-guest supramolecular assemblies. Further advancements in this approach could expand the applicability of F-19-MRI to previously undetectable targets.

A Bioorthogonal Probe for Multiscale Imaging by 19F-MRI and Raman Microscopy: From Whole Body to Single Cells

Cristina Chirizzi et al.

Summary: Molecular imaging techniques play a vital role in studying biological processes and detecting disease biomarkers. Multimodal diagnostic probes are essential for imaging across various scales, while fluorinated (F-19) probes show promise for in vivo cell tracking. PERFECTA, a bioorthogonal F-19 probe, combines excellent features for macroscopic F-19-MRI and microscopic Raman imaging at tissue and cellular levels.
