In Vivo Retention Quantification of Supramolecular Hydrogels Engineered for Cardiac Delivery

Maaike J. G. Schotman et al.

Summary: Recent advances in cardiac regeneration include the use of injectable hydrogels to increase drug retention and effectiveness. A quantitative in vivo imaging method was developed using a bioactive hydrogel for radioactive imaging in a large animal model. Results showed retention values of 8% for UPy-PEG and 16% for UPy-PEG-RCPhC1 hydrogel in a porcine heart.
