Prognostic role of visceral fat for overall survival in metastatic colorectal cancer: A pilot study

Debora Basile et al.

Summary: This study investigated the prognostic role of adiposity, especially visceral fat, in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. The results showed that higher visceral fat values were associated with worse outcomes in these patients. Further research is needed to explore the impact of visceral fat on colorectal cancer patients.

Summary: Glucose metabolism in adipose tissue is an important prognostic factor in multiple myeloma patients, with high visceral adipose tissue SUV possibly serving as an early biomarker of cancer cachexia, and being correlated with factors such as plasmatic pro-inflammatory cytokine levels.
