Using gradient Forest to predict climate response and adaptation in Cork oak

Mathieu Vanhove et al.

Summary: By utilizing landscape genomics, this study investigated the population structure and ecological adaptation of cork oak tree species across the Mediterranean Basin, revealing a weak population structure along an east-west climatic gradient in the region. The research also identified genomic regions potentially involved in local adaptation and predicted differences in genetic composition across the landscape under current and future climates.

Occurrence of Biscogniauxia mediterranea in cork oak stands in Tunisia

Islem Yangui et al.

Summary: The study detected the presence of Biscogniauxia mediterranea in Tunisian forests and evaluated factors influencing its occurrence. The pathogen was found in all six investigated forests, with varying frequencies, and was related to the dendrometric structure of cork oak trees. The dispersal of B. mediterranea in other cork oak forests should be prevented to conserve valuable forest resources.

Endophytic fungal community structure in olive orchards with high and low incidence of olive anthracnose

Fatima Martins et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the endophytic fungal communities of two olive tree orchards and found differences in endophytic communities between orchards, which may influence lifestyle shifts in pathogen. Fungal endophytes associated with high incidence of anthracnose are pathogens, while those linked to low anthracnose incidence protect plants. Overall, the results suggest varying pathogen-endophyte interactions among the two orchards.
