Catalyst design for maximizing C5+ yields during Fischer-Tropsch synthesis

Janardhan L. Hodala et al.

Summary: The FT process has great potential for energy security and utilizing greenhouse gases. The formation of hydrocarbons in the process can be controlled by catalyst selection and active metal support interactions. The ratio of syn-gas is crucial for desired conversion and selectivity towards C5+ products, with support playing a significant role in product distribution and CO conversion.

Advanced materials and technologies for supercapacitors used in energy conversion and storage: a review

M. I. A. Abdel Maksoud et al.

Summary: Supercapacitors are increasingly utilized in sustainable nanotechnologies for energy conversion and storage. Various materials, such as spinel ferrites, perovskite oxides, transition metals sulfides, carbon materials, and conducting polymers, are compared for supercapacitor fabrication. Transition metal sulfides, like ZnCo2S4, exhibit higher specific capacitance compared to transition metal oxides, due to low charge-transfer resistance and high ion diffusion rate. Composites of magnetic oxides or transition metal sulfides with conducting polymers or carbon materials show the highest capacitance activity and cyclic stability, attributed to oxygen and sulfur active sites that facilitate electrolyte penetration and create new active sites.

The controlled synthesis and DFT investigation of novel (0D)-(3D) ZnS/SiO2 heterostructures for photocatalytic applications

Mohamed F. Sanad et al.

Summary: A ZnS/SiO2 photocatalyst was synthesized using a low-cost sol-gel wet chemical procedure, showing superior photocatalytic performance. The 15% ZnS content photocatalyst exhibited a higher surface area and increased number of active sites compared to higher ZnS content, leading to improved photocatalytic activity.

Effect of the valence state of Mn in MnOx/Ti4O7 composites on the catalytic performance for oxygen reduction reaction and oxygen evolution reaction

Fan Bai et al.

Summary: In this study, manganese oxide composites with mixed valence states were synthesized through hydrothermal method and further calcined with Ti4O7 at different temperatures. The induction of Ti4O7 was found to have a positive impact on the growth and catalytic performance of manganese oxides, especially in ORR and OER, with enhanced bifunctional catalytic performance due to preferred orientation and the presence of Mn3+.
