Unraveling the origin of extraordinary lean NOx reduction by CO over Ir-Ru bimetallic catalyst at low temperature

Young-Woo You et al.

Summary: The Ir-Ru/Al2O3 catalyst shows excellent activity in reducing NOx by CO at low temperature in excess oxygen. The formation of Ir-Ru alloy phases on alumina was found to accelerate reaction steps required for NOx reduction by CO. The effective dissociation of NO and reutilization by the facile CO-O reaction on the bimetallic site are believed to be the primary causes for the excellent deNOx activity of Ir-Ru/Al2O3 under lean exhaust conditions.

Osmium@hollow Carbon Spheres as Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis Catalysts

Tshepo Molefe et al.

Summary: The article discusses the use of osmium as a catalyst or promoter for Fischer Tropsch synthesis, with osmium nanoparticles supported on SiO2 or encapsulated inside hollow carbon spheres studied. The research shows that osmium primarily produces C(1) and C(2) hydrocarbons, but deactivates in the reaction, with osmium readily sintering on the supports under syngas, providing a deactivation pathway for the catalyst under FT conditions.

Ru nanoparticles loaded on tannin immobilized collagen fibers for catalytic hydrolysis of ammonia borane

Ling Fu et al.

Summary: A Ru-based catalyst was prepared using a natural polyphenolic polymer immobilized on collagen fiber as the stabilizer and carrier of Ru nanoparticles. The catalyst exhibited high catalytic activity in the hydrolysis of ammonia borane to produce hydrogen, with a high TOF and low activation energy. It also showed good reusability and stability, with only minor loss of activity and no agglomeration or leakage of Ru nanoparticles after repeated use.

Selection Criteria for Metal Precursors and Solvents for Targeted Synthesis of Metallic Nanostructures Via Kinetic Control in the Polyol Process

Hisashi Kaneko et al.

Summary: The development of a technology for the synthesis of monometallic or multimetallic nanoparticles is crucial for preparing novel magnetic, optical, and catalytic functional materials. The polyol process is a safe and scalable method for preparing metal nanoparticles with controlled sizes and shapes. However, the criteria for selecting metal salt and solvent types that determine the kinetics of reduction reaction affecting particle morphology need further investigation.

Tungsten(VI) oxide supported rhodium nanoparticles: Highly active catalysts in hydrogen generation from ammonia borane

Serdar Akbayrak et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that Rh0/WO3 (0.5% wt. Rh) catalyst shows high catalytic activity in the hydrolysis of ammonia borane, mainly attributed to its reducible nature as the support. Additionally, compared to colloidal(0) nanoparticles, Rh0/WO3 (0.5% wt. Rh) catalyst exhibits better performance in terms of activity, recyclability, and reusability.
