Summary: The distribution pattern of subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) and intermuscular adipose tissue (IMAT) in the mid-thigh is related to serum adiponectin levels. The ratio of SAT to total thigh adipose tissue is negatively correlated with cardiometabolic risk factors, but positively correlated with serum high-density lipoprotein levels. This ratio is the most strongly associated variable with adiponectin levels in multiple linear regression analysis.
