Surface treatment of 3D printed porous Ti6Al4V implants by ultraviolet photofunctionalization for improved osseointegration

Summary: The study designed an omnidirectional radiator based on ultraviolet photofunctionalization for surface treatment of 3D-printed porous Ti6Al4V implants to improve their osseointegration capacity. The results showed that UV treatment significantly enhanced the hydrophilicity, cytocompatibility, and alkaline phosphatase activity of the porous Ti6Al4V scaffolds, and its osteointegration promotion effects were confirmed in vivo.

Summary: The study evaluates the equivalence of obtaining the L/S factor through electrical and purely geometrical measurements, finding that the discrepancies between the two methods increase as the geometrical L/S factor becomes larger. Additionally, the results suggest that the so-called geometrical L/S factor also has an important electrical contribution and should be better denoted as an electrogeometric factor.
