Characterization of High-Temperature Superconductor Bulks for Electrical Machine Application

Bruno Douine et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the direct measurement of key parameters for HTS bulks, presenting the features of YBaCuO bulks, developing an electrical motor application using magnetic field shielding and trapping, and characterizing the HTS bulks. The main parameters of interest for applications were found to be the complete penetration magnetic field and the critical current density. An innovative characterization method for HTS bulks was proposed, which is beneficial for end users and engineers in implementing HTS bulks.

Numerical Study on Dynamic Resistance of an HTS Switch Made of Series-Connected YBCO Stacks

Jintao Hu et al.

Summary: This paper reports a numerical study of a new HTS switch design made of series-connected YBCO stacks. The study aims to understand the characteristics of dynamic resistance and power loss, and their relationships with the amplitude and frequency of the AC magnetic field. The energy conversion efficiency of the HTS switch is also investigated.

On the Superconductivity Suppression in Eu1-xPrxBa2Cu3O7-δ

Pawel Peczkowski et al.

Summary: This article reports on the significant suppression of superconductivity in the Eu1-xPrxBCO cuprates, which is caused by the replacement of non-magnetic Eu3+ ions with Pr3+ carrying a magnetic moment, resulting in depletion and localization of carriers. An inverse phenomenon was observed with increasing Pr content, where the optical phonons responsible for Cu-O bond vibrations deteriorated. The research also proposed a schematic diagram for Eu1-xPrxBCO to consolidate the presented findings.
