Effects of implant diameter, implant-abutment connection type, and bone density on the biomechanical stability of implant components and bone: A finite element analysis study

Hyeonjong Lee et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the stress and strain distribution on implants, abutments, and surrounding bones depending on different diameters, connection types, and bone densities. Results showed that bone density had the most significant impact on bone strain, while the implant connection type had a greater impact on the stress of the implant and abutment than the diameter. The study suggests that the selection of dental implants should consider these factors along with tooth size.

Experimental study of a 3D printed permanent implantable porous Ta-coated bone plate for fracture fixation

Baoyi Liu et al.

Summary: This study developed personalized porous Ti6Al4V bone plates coated with tantalum metal using chemical vapor deposition technology. The Ta-coated bone plate had a similar elastic modulus to cortical bone, enhancing cell attachment and proliferation. Animal experiments demonstrated that the Ta-coated bone plate effectively fixed fractures and promoted new bone growth and osseointegration.

Large-pore-size Ti6Al4V scaffolds with different pore structures for vascularized bone regeneration

Chao Wang et al.

Summary: The study explored the optimal pore structure and size of Ti6Al4V porous scaffold for repairing large-area bone defects and promoting vascularization in the early stage of osteogenesis. The research found that as pore size increased, cell proliferation and viability also increased, with irregular pore sizes supporting stronger cell vascularization ability compared to regular pore sizes.

Ti-10Mo/Hydroxyapatite composites for orthopedic applications: Microstructure, mechanical properties and biological activity

Fangxia Xie et al.

Summary: The Ti-10Mo/xHA composites fabricated by powder metallurgy showed excellent microstructural evolution, mechanical properties, and biological activity. As the HA content increased, the elastic modulus increased while the compressive strength decreased, and excessive HA content resulted in an increase in microcracks and pores.
