Electrochemical detection of dopamine with negligible interference from ascorbic and uric acid by means of reduced graphene oxide and metals-NPs based electrodes

Bernardo Patella et al.

Summary: In this study, electrochemical dopamine sensors based on reduced graphene oxide coupled with Au or Pt nanoparticles were developed and showed high sensitivity in detecting dopamine in synthetic urine. The sensors exhibited negligible interference from uric and ascorbic acids, and achieved a wide linear range and low limit of detection for both Au and Pt nanoparticles. Real urine samples also showed closely aligned dopamine concentrations with measurements from conventional laboratory techniques. The sensor fabrication process was cost-effective and had the potential for integration into flexible substrates, allowing for the development of wearable sensing devices.
