Research into Carbon Dioxide Curing's Effects on the Properties of Reactive Powder Concrete with Assembly Unit of Sulphoaluminate Cement and Ordinary Portland Cement

Hongfei Cao et al.

Summary: Excessive emissions of carbon dioxide can lead to greenhouse effect and ecological imbalance. Effective measures need to be taken to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. In this study, the influence of carbon dioxide curing on the mechanical strength and NaCl freeze-thaw deterioration of reactive powder concrete was investigated. Results showed that the addition of sulphoaluminate cement could improve the mechanical strength at low curing ages, and carbon dioxide curing could effectively enhance the resistance to NaCl freeze-thaw cycles.

Mechanical performances and microstructures of metakaolin contained UHPC matrix under steam curing conditions

Zongyun Mo et al.

Summary: This study found that steam curing significantly enhances the early compressive strength of UHPC matrix, but restrains late strength growth. Higher curing temperature facilitates a higher reaction degree of MK with cement, but decreases cement hydration degree. In terms of pore structure, the influence of steam curing on MK mixture is not significant.

Carbon dioxide utilization in concrete curing or mixing might not produce a net climate benefit

Dwarakanath Ravikumar et al.

Summary: Research shows that the net CO2 benefit of CCU concrete is more likely to be negative, with a net increase in CO2 in 56 to 68 of 99 scenarios. To increase the net CO2 benefit of CCU concrete, strategies such as increasing compressive strength and reducing electricity usage should be implemented.
