Prospect of biobased antiviral face mask to limit the coronavirus outbreak

Mohammad Asaduzzaman Chowdhury et al.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic has devastated global economic activities, prompting researchers to seek effective protection measures. A study has found that face masks made with licorice root extract have antiviral properties, offering potential in controlling virus spread.

SARS COV-2 virus-laden droplets coughed from deep lungs: Numerical quantification in a single-path whole respiratory tract geometry

Xiuhua April Si et al.

Summary: This study investigated the behavior and fate of respiratory droplets during coughs, finding that 2-mu m droplets have the highest exhalation fraction regardless of cough depths. A nonlinear relationship exists between the droplet exhalation fraction and cough depth due to complex deposition mechanisms and multiscale airway passages.
