Semi-heterogeneous photo-Cu-dual-catalytic cross-coupling reactions using polymeric carbon nitrides

Zhaofei Zhang et al.

Summary: A combination of copper catalysis and semiconductor photocatalysis using polymeric carbon nitride (PCN) was developed for multi-type cross-coupling reactions. This dual-catalytic system enables mild C-H arylation, chalcogenation, and C-N cross-coupling reactions under visible light irradiation with a broad substrate scope. The metal-free and low-cost PCN photocatalyst can be easily recovered and reused multiple times, showing good yields and functional group tolerance.

Organotellurium-catalyzed oxidative deoximation reactions using visible-light as the precise driving energy

Xin Deng et al.

Summary: The recyclable (PhTe)(2)-catalyzed oxidative deoximation reaction can occur under mild conditions with elevated product yields and expanded substrate scope. Using visible light as a driving energy is more precise than heating, breaking the Te-Te bond accurately without damaging the fragile substituents of substrates. The use of O-2 as an oxidant provides safer reaction conditions compared to explosive H2O2 for large-scale applications.

Low-temperature oxidation of isopropylbenzene mediated by the system of NHPI, Fe(acac)3 and 1,10-phenanthroline

N. Kuznetsova et al.

Summary: The highly efficient oxidation of isopropylbenzene was carried out at a low temperature of 60 degrees C using the NHPI/Fe(acac)(3)/Phen system. The improved catalysis was attributed to the enhanced oxidizing ability of Fe(III) in conjunction with Phen, leading to the intense generation of PINO. NMR observations revealed the formation of a hydrogen-bonded NHPI-Phen adduct soluble in acetonitrite and isopropylbenzene, demonstrating the potential for selective synthesis of isopropylbenzene hydroperoxide.

Methylselenized Glucose: Improvement of the Stability of Glucose-Supported Selenium via the End-Capping Strategy

Qiyuan Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, the end-capping strategy was used for the first time to produce selenized materials, resulting in the synthesis of a new generation selenized glucose product, methylselenized glucose, under NaBH4-free conditions. This new method significantly reduced production costs and improved safety. The produced methylselenized glucose was more stable with low-valent Se that was hardly oxidized by air, enhancing its efficiency as a practical Se fertilizer in Se-enriched crop planting.

Catalytic epoxidation of β-ionone with molecular oxygen using selenium-doped silica materials

Peizi Li et al.

Summary: A novel Se-doped silica material was prepared as an efficient recyclable catalyst for beta-ionone oxidation. By doping with fluorine, the reaction selectivity was significantly enhanced, leading to selective production of beta-ionone epoxide as an important pharmaceutical intermediate. The enhanced electropositivity of the catalytic Se species, along with the reinforced electropositivity of Si sites in the silica support, played a key role in controlling the reaction selectivity in the beta-ionone epoxidation reaction.
