Gold-Based Nanoplataform for the Treatment of Anaplastic Thyroid Carcinoma: A Step Forward

Mariana Amaral et al.

Summary: Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC) is a highly lethal subtype of thyroid cancer that does not respond well to traditional treatments. This study developed specialized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) for photothermal therapy (PTT) targeted specifically at ATC. The functionalized holo-transferrin AuNPs showed the best efficacy for PTT against ATC and demonstrated good safety and biodistribution when administered in vivo. These results suggest that AuNPs-mediated-PTT could be a promising treatment for ATC in the future.

Investigation of the antimicrobial activity and hematological pattern of nano-chitosan and its nano-copper composite

Somia B. Ahmed et al.

Summary: The study focused on the synthesis of Chitosan-Copper oxide nanocomposite (Cs-CuO) using pomegranate peels extract as a green precipitating agent to enhance the biological activity of Cs-NP's. The antimicrobial activity of Cs-NP's and Cs-CuO-NP's was tested against various microorganisms, revealing higher sensitivity of Cs-CuO-NP's at lower concentrations. Additionally, hematological activity was assessed by measuring blood parameters in healthy, diabetic, and hypercholesterolemic samples, showing different effects of Cs-NP's and Cs-CuO-NP's on clotting time.
