Removal behaviour of NSAIDs from wastewater using a P-functionalised microporous carbon

Sabolc Pap et al.

Summary: This study synthesized a P-doped microporous carbonous adsorbent (CScPA) for the removal of NSAIDs. The CScPA showed a large surface area and good porosity, enabling a high adsorption capacity. Thermodynamic data indicated an endothermic adsorption process, and experimental results suggested surface heterogeneity and cooperative adsorption mechanisms.

Removal of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs from water by zeolite-rich composites: The interference of inorganic anions on the ibuprofen and naproxen adsorption

Danijela Smiljanic et al.

Summary: The study found that composites with double-layered surfactant modification on natural zeolite surfaces showed the best removal efficiency for ibuprofen and naproxen. Real system simulation in natural water showed a slight decrease in drug adsorption using the best performing adsorbent, while the presence of interfering ions such as sulfates and bicarbonates led to a decrease in adsorption for bilayer composites.

Investigation of hierarchically porous zeolitic imidazolate frameworks for highly efficient dye removal

Xiaoling Wu et al.

Summary: The nucleotide incorporated zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (NZIF) demonstrated superior adsorption capacity for organic dye molecules compared to ZIF-8, with a maximum adsorption capacity 6-5 times higher. The presence of introduced nucleoside monophosphate enabled NZIF to function under acidic conditions and enhanced the adsorption capacity through hydrogen bonding, stacking interaction, and electrostatic forces. This study offers a new avenue for designing porous materials for environmental remediation.

Summary: A physically cross-linked polyacrylic acid-grafted hydroxyethyl cellulose and polyvinyl alcohol composite with graphitic-like carbon nitride (ZnO-g-C3N4) was constructed to enhance the adsorption capacity of methylene blue dye (MB). The ZnO-g-C3N4(6%)@PAA-g-(HEC/PVA)-Fe3+ exhibited higher swelling ratio and compressive strength, as well as efficient adsorption of MB, especially at pH 9.0. The adsorption results were fitting with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir adsorption isotherm.
