Rational Surface-Defect Control via Designed Passivation for High-Efficiency Inorganic Perovskite Solar Cells

Xiaojing Gu et al.

Summary: Iodine vacancies and undercoordinated Pb2+ are the main causes of nonradiative charge recombination in all-inorganic perovskite films, while passivation with histamine (HA) significantly reduces surface trap density and prolongs charge lifetime, leading to an increased solar cell efficiency.

Intact 2D/3D halide junction perovskite solar cells via solid-phase in-plane growth

Yeoun-Woo Jang et al.

Summary: Researchers have developed a solid-phase method to grow phase-pure two-dimensional perovskites in perovskite solar cells, enhancing device efficiency and stability. By growing a stable two-dimensional film on top of a three-dimensional film using a solvent-free method, an intact 2D/3D heterojunction is formed, resulting in high photovoltage in the device.

Surface Engineering of Ambient-Air-Processed Cesium Lead Triiodide Layers for Efficient Solar Cells

So Me Yoon et al.

Summary: Cesium lead triiodide (CsPbI3) has a desirable band gap and high thermal stability, but its power conversion efficiency (PCE) is lower than that of organic cation-based halide perovskites with identical band gaps. The PCE of CsPbI3 solar cells is mainly governed by the surface morphology and defect passivation of its thin films.

High-Light-Tolerance PbI2 Boosting the Stability and Efficiency of Perovskite Solar Cells

Li Chen et al.

Summary: The excessive lead iodide (PbI2) plays an important role in improving the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of perovskite solar cells (PSCs), but its photolysis can lead to accelerated decomposition of perovskite materials and reduced long-term stability. By introducing the electron-donor molecule 2-thiophenecarboxamide (2-TCAm), the light tolerance of PbI2 can be enhanced, leading to improved crystallization and morphology of perovskite films, resulting in a 16.8% increase in PCE and nearly 12 times increase in the lifetime of PSCs.

In-Situ Hot Oxygen Cleansing and Passivation for All-Inorganic Perovskite Solar Cells Deposited in Ambient to Breakthrough 19% Efficiency

Kang Wang et al.

Summary: The all-inorganic perovskite CsPbI3 has excellent thermal and chemical stability but suffers from large energy losses due to point defects. A hot oxygen cleansing with superior passivation (HOCP) was demonstrated to reduce E-loss, improve PCE, and enhance long-term stability. This approach could pave the way for reducing nonradiative charge recombination losses in high-performance inorganic perovskite photoelectronics.

2D Phase Purity Determines Charge-Transfer Yield at 3D/2D Lead Halide Perovskite Heterojunctions

Robert J. E. Westbrook et al.

Summary: The targeted functionalization of 3D perovskite with a 2D passivation layer via R-NH3I treatment has been shown to effectively enhance the efficiency and chemical stability of ABX(3) perovskite solar cells. The key lies in the precise control of the 2D layer which can either improve or deteriorate hole injection performance depending on the number of layers. Ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy reveals that fast hole injection does not occur between the 3D and 2D layers. These findings provide insight for the further optimization of multidimensional perovskite optoelectronics.
